Cox Elementary School no longer faces the threat of an outside takeover as it approaches its 100th anniversary.
The Dade City school, which had received D grades from the state for four consecutive years, scored a B in the 2025 accountability system. That achievement moves Cox off the state’s watch list, which includes a mandatory improvement plan that could lead to charter school control or closure.
The success does not mean the school district will end the efforts implemented to achieve the needed gains.
